AGES 6-9 RSVP for SCREENING: Seussical Summer Intensive

Star Theatre Group presents Seussical: 2025 Summer Intensive!

Our summer intensive is designed to provide a unique and immersive experience for young performers who have a love for singing, dancing, acting, community, and teamwork. Our mission is to allow young performers to be a part of a full-scale musical production while receiving quality theater education that will last a lifetime. With Louisiana-certified educators, a professional theater performance space, and live orchestration, performers will get a high-caliber performance experience right here in our local community.

Screening for students age 6-9yrs old

1. RSVP for an online screening: Once you have submitted an RSVP for your student to be interviewed, our Chief Director will contact you to schedule an online interview with you and your child at a time that is convenient for you.

2. During the screening (30mins): Your child will be asked a series of questions to help us get to know them better! We want to see how your child responds and interacts with others as well as get an idea of their natural characteristics (vocal quality, expressive movement, facial expressions, etc). Don't be surprised if some of the questions seem silly! We want to see your child's playful personality. We also will give them an age-appropriate scene to cold-read to gauge their reading abilities.

3. How to prepare: We ask that you work with your child to prepare and memorize one of the monologues listed in the resources below. We also would like to see your child sing their favorite song. We recommend selecting a song that has an available karaoke track on YouTube so that your child does not have to sing acapella. If they would prefer to sing acapella, they may. We are looking to see your child's natural talents and expressiveness, so please encourage them to perform BIG when the time comes.

4. After the screening: Our Chief Director will contact you to inform you of your child's eligibility for the Summer Camp program. If eligible, you will be given instructions on how to register your child for the camp.

   
   

Mini Star Screening Resources

Big Star / Little Star Program

Because of our mission to maintain a community-focused program, we will keep a wide age range to implement the Big Star / Little Star Program. The Big Star / Little Star Program is a fraternity-style, mentorship program unique to the Star Theatre Group Summer Camp. Along with the stellar theatrical arts education that will come with mounting our production, Big Stars (students aged 16-20yrs) will be educated on leadership skills and the importance of being a supportive mentor while Little Stars (students aged 10-15yrs) will learn how to manage responsibility and how support circles can help lead to success.

**Eligible students aged 6-9yrs are Mini Stars and will be mentored by a Big and Little Star pair.
